With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bruce Downing on February 10th 2017 at the age of 67. He was predeceased by his wife Dale Milway. Bruce was the beloved father of Stephen, Christina (Mark Reece) and Andrew (Alice Wegmueller), the proud grandfather to Kathryn, Chloe and Brielle, and cherished companion of Diane Thibault. He also leaves to mourn his siblings, Edna (Drummond), Richard (the late Nancy), Gordon (Barbara), Tom (Kathy) and Norman (Ellie) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bruce was born in Hawkesbury, Ontario and grew up in Kilmar. He married Dale and settled in Harrington where they raised their family and were an integral part of the community. Bruce was an astute businessman and with Dale, Tom, Stephen, and Andrew, built the family business from small beginnings into the successful companies of Downing Drilling and Eastern Ontario Diamond Drilling. Funeral will be held in the Grenville Catholic Church (Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs), Saturday February 18th 2017 at 1 PM. Visitation: Friday February 17, 2017 from 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM.
