Tomachevsky, William John from Avoca Quebec passed away March 10, 2016 at the age of 90. Loving son of the late Stanislas (Steve) Tomachevsky and Annie MacDonald. Survived by his sister Violet Arthurs of Avoca Que. Predeceased by sisters Margaret Townsend and Frances Lovett. Bill's family moved from Montreal to Avoca to take up farming when he was 17 years old. He travelled out west to Alberta for the harvest and worked up north on the Dewline, but never stayed away too long from home. In 1967 employment at the Kilmar Mine was next, then on to the Marelan Plant where he retired April 1991. Bill was an artist from a young age. He started in oils, then moved on to pen and ink where his attention to detail is very apparent in all his works. He was also an avid photographer. “Avoca in the Fall” was captured many times from all vantage points with beautiful results. Local Fairs were also a favorite backdrop for his photos. Because of failing health, it was necessary for him to move to a residence in Brownsburg, but Avoca was Always his home. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Desforges Funeral Home, 188 rue Principale, Grenville, QC (819) 242-2113. Interment at the Avoca Cemetery on Saturday May 7, 2016 at 11:30 AM. Condolences may be sent online by visiting www.desforges.ca.
